WHITE-FRONTED AMAZON

(Amazona albifrons)

White Fronted Amazons are small Amazon parrots native to Mexico and Central America.   Also known as the Spectacled Amazon, White Fronts are adorable little birds that make awesome avian companions.  They are able to "talk" and some develop large vocabularies, depending on the amount of time spent.   White Fronts make great pets for all ages and are easy to keep.  A medium Amazon sized cage that is stocked with toys is suitable for a White Front.   Frequent bathing is also a must.

Species Profile:

White Fronted Amazons are small parrots measuring around 10 inches long.   They are mainly green in coloration with the forehead white to cream in color.  The eye area and lores is red, this coloration can be quite variable in individuals.  Mature males tend to have more extensive red coloration than females and exhibit a red coloration to the alula.   The alula in females is always green.  The bill is horn colored.
